OKLAHOMA’S GRAND LAKE O’ THE CHEROKEES, WOLF CREEK PARK, TO HOST THE NATION’S BEST GRASSROOTS ANGLERS AT THE 2013 TBF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Ponca City, Okla. (Sept 13, 2012) – The Bass Federation announced today the Grand Lake Association and the city of Grove, Okla., will host the 2013 TBF Federation National Championship. The event will be held April 8-13, 2013 on Grand Lake and launch out of the new Wolf Creek Park in Grove.  It’s the culmination of more than two years of work for most of these anglers, competing against the nearly 25,000 members in TBF clubs across the United States and Canada to earn their invitation. Only the best anglers from each US state federation, the Association of Collegiate Anglers National Champions and the Canadian Champions earn a slot at the national contest.  There they’ll test their skills against the Grand Lake fish and each other, in the nearly quarter of a million dollar event. Legislators Act to Maintain Fishing & Boating Access on Cumberland River

U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield of Kentucky, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, yesterday announced he has formally introduced legislation to prevent the United States Army Corps of Engineers from installing permanent blockades along the Cumberland River. This measure, known as the Freedom to Fish Act, enables boating access to river tailwaters to continue for sportsmen and recreational fishermen. In December, the COE announced a plan to eliminate tailwater fishing on several Cumberland River dams in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Last week, Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander also said he is planning to take action to halt the corps’ plan. Alexander said his legislation would require the corps to conduct an environmental impact review before it could restrict public access to the fishing waters below 10 dams on the Cumberland River.

(March 5, 2013) — The Bass Federation is excited to announce the Susquehanna River Dream Team Rally is scheduled for March 30 on the Susquehanna River at Northumberland Point.  The event is hosted by the Washbury Bassmasters #9280 and the Kickin Bass Baits Pro Team #10705.  The Susquehanna River event is open to ALL TBF members and non-TBF members wanting to join. Interested teams can go online at bassfederation.com; Dream Team; to enter, the tourney # is 1041.  ALL interested TBF clubs and state federations can go online and register to host their own event today!  All Dream Team events held before April 30, 2013 will qualify teams to the 2013 Dream Team National Championship.
