Ohio High School Fishing State Championship Set For July 9

Ponca City, Okla. (April 25, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Ohio High School Fishing State Championship, July 9 at the boat access ramp in the public use area adjacent to the Gallipolis City Park, Gallipolis, Ohio. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is open online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in begins at 5:30pm on Friday, July 8 in the Gallipolis City Park.  A mandatory rules briefing will follow at 7pm. Calm Winds for Day 2 Takeoff of Northwest Division Championship

Hood River, OR (4/28/11) – Calm winds this morning helped the federation anglers get to their fishing spots with ease on day 2 of the 2011 Northwest Division Championship, presented by Cabelas. Later today will be a different story as the weather forecast calls for high winds in the afternoon. Weigh-in will begin at 2:30 PM pacific standard time. Weigh-ins are free and open to the public at Hood River Marina.

Oregon Federation Member Pelletier Leads First Day of 2011 Northwest Division Championship

April 27, 2011 –  Hood River, OR – Long time fishing legend Renaud Pelletier representing the Oregon federation from Vancouver, Washington is the Day 1 leader of the TBF Northwest Division Championship, presented by Cabela’s from Hood River, Oregon. With colder than normal water and weather conditions, anglers are targeting pre-spawn fish on the river system. Renaud weighed in a big 5 fish limit of 20 pounds 5 ounces today. Renaud said that he caught fish all day in varying depths using both reaction baits and soft plastics fishing near flats on the river. Pelletier also landed the big fish for the day with a 5 pound 6 ounce Smallmouth bass. Continue reading

2011 TBF Northwest Division Championship Begins Today

April 27, 2011 – After a week of strong winds and rough prefish conditions, 58 of the best Northwest Division anglers set out on calm winds this morning. Fishing conditions should be good for the first day of competition. The forecast for the week is fairly stable and should yield good limits of smallmouth on the Columbia River. Limits of fish have been reported in prefish and we’ll see if mother nature cooperates this afternoon. Weigh-in will start at 2:30 pacific standard time at Hood River Marina.
