Louisiana High School Fishing State Championship Set For February 26

Ponca City, Okla. (Jan. 24, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Louisiana High School Fishing State Championship, February 26th at Caddo Lake just north of Shreveport. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, opens online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031 beginning Jan. 28. Event check-in starts at 4:00pm on Fri., February 25th at Airline High School, 2801 Airline Drive Bossier City, La. 71111, with a mandatory rules briefing to follow at 6pm. Inaugural Florida High School Fishing State Championship Set For March 12

The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, opens online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031 beginning Jan. 28. There will be a mandatory check-in Friday, March 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. ET at the Ramada Inn’s Ramada Heritage Park located at 2145 Irlo Bronson Memorial Parkway in Kissimmee with a mandatory rules briefing and safety meeting beginning promptly at 6 p.m. Continue reading

Largest Student Fishing Initiative In History Announced

TBF, FLW Outdooors Introduce National High School Fishing Program

Ponca City, Okla. (Jan. 27, 2011) – The Bass Federation’s (TBF) Student Angler Federation (SAF) and FLW Outdoors announced today the formation of the largest student angler program in history.

Decades of youth program leadership by TBF and affiliated state federations, and FLW Outdoors’ position as the largest promoter of tournaments in the world have spawned the largest youth fishing initiative in sports history. The new national High School Fishing program follows highly successful TBF and FLW Outdoors programs including National Guard FLW College Fishing, the SAF High School Fishing World Finals and the TBF Junior World Championship. Over 23,000 high schools across the nation and Canada are invited to compete giving high school anglers opportunities to fish, make friends, advance to championship events and earn scholarships to benefit their education and their lives.
