MALONEY MAKES TBF HISTORY BY BECOMING FIRST ANGLER TO WIN BFL-ALL AMERICAN, ADVANCING FROM THE TBF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, NOW ON TO THE FORREST WOOD CUP!

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – During his final day on the Potomac River, Brian Maloney heard Coast Guard vessels cutting through the waves; he heard government helicopters buzzing overhead; he heard the thunder of a 21-gun salute. Nothing, however, compared to the memorable sound of a standing room only crowd cheering his victory in the Wal-Mart BFL All-American.

After leading the event on days one and two with 15 pounds, 4 ounces and 14-10, the Osage Beach, Mo. boater nabbed a final-round limit that weighed 13-6. His three-day total of 43-4 allowed him to slip past second-place Dick Shaffer by 6 ounces and claim a $120,000 prize.

“I still can’t believe this,” an emotional Maloney said. “I didn’t think I had (enough).” Continue reading

Arizona Bass Federation Crowns Junior State Champions

On  May 19,  2012  the Arizona Bass Federation held its State Junior Angler Championship on  Lake Pleasant.

At this special event, junior anglers from all over the state competed in three age groups for the Arizona State Championship title and the two older age groups competed for the ultimate prize of qualifying for the National Guard Junior World Championship!

The winners and new State Champs are Jordan Riddle from Waddell, Arizona in the “10 and under” age group. In the 11-14 age division is Shane Edgar, from Glendale, Arizona. Jordan and Shane are both from the Phoenix Junior BassMasters. And in the 15-18 age division is Hunter Konecny from Apache Jct,  Arizona. Hunter is from the Cholla Bass Busters.  Continue reading

Mezenen and Utah 2012 Southwest Division Champions

60 TBF anglers faced-off until the bitter end as the final day of the 2012 Southwest Division Championship crowned Roger Mezenen and the Utah state team victorious.  The championship was hosted by Sky Ute Casino and Resort and presented by Solar Bat this week on Lake Navajo in Navajo State Park, Arboles, Co.    Mezenen took the lead on day one and had solid finishes each day to solidify his win in the individual standings.  In the state standings, the Utah state team, led by Mezenen, jumped from third to first yesterday, and continued that momentum finishing 30lbs over second to claim the division title.  Continue reading

“Brutal” Day of Fishing on Lake Navajo; Mezenen Holds Steady, Utah Jumps from Third

Day two wraps up on Lake Navajo in Navajo State Park today.  Tomorrow, the final day of the 2012 Southwest Division Championship presented by Solar Bat will boast two division champion titles, one in the individual and state team standings.  10 TBF anglers, the top two from each state, will earn spots in the 2013 Federation National Championship to vie for the national titles and all the glory.  The national champion boater will earn the “Living the Dream” prize package, which includes paid entry fees as an FLW Tour Pro for the year, use of a wrapped Ranger Boat and Chevrolet truck, as well as, cash and prizes.  Today, Colorado fell to third as the Utah state team took the lead.  Mezenen remains on top, but an angler climbing 19 slots to second might have something to say about it as the championship continues tomorrow on Lake Navajo.    Continue reading
